Casper Labs
The Casper Blockchain is a revolution in both blockchain technology and applicability. As the only Layer-1 blockchain built specifically for enterprise adoption, Casper Labs needed a new and revamped image to communicate their unique offering. Following a significant re-brand, Casper Labs partnered with Scalio to provide a platform to communicate their message.
Google Tables are interactive table-top screens used in Google’s Cafes. These large interactive surfaces provides a place for groups to momentarily congregate on their way into and out of the new YouGrow cafe, a hub of glowing color, filled with rich visual information, driven an engaging natural user interface.The over-arching objective was to utilize the rich visual and informative content provided by Bon Appétit in an experience that will encourage users to make better choices about the food they eat.
Scal.io played a major role in the design and development on the project. The tables use physical subject cards that when placed on the table surface, trigger a menu of options, each element containing related information. This ‘hub-and-spoke’ style interface groups information into helpful categories, and can be switched on and off simply by placing a card on or off the display.The physical interface also enables the creation of visual connections between different categories, producing a web of relationships, as lines also connect one card with another. Content for the tables are delivered by a custom CMS, and updated by a designated content manager as and when new material needs to appear.
Yahoo!
Yahoo! Developer Network is Yahoo!'s site for developers, where it offers free access to its collection of web services, in addition to multiple software development resources. YDN offers Web Services and APIs to make it easy for developers to build applications and mashups.
We developed tools used by Yahoo! worldwide, as well as launched several Yahoo! properties from scratch. We also helped to drive the internal Yahoo! APIs out into the world as REST APIs before most people knew what REST was.
Uber
These days, Uber as a company needs no introduction. The San Francisco-based technology “startup” is innovating at the intersection of lifestyle and logistics. Uber connects riders with safe, reliable, convenient transportation providers at a variety of price-points in cities around the world. Uber has revolutionized the travel industry by merging modern technology with the age-old need for rapid and affordable transportation. Boasting a valuation of $62.5 billion and a presence in 449 cities and 66 countries around the world, Uber is truly the most ubiquitous travel solution on the planet.
Scal.io was approached by Uber in 2015 to architect, design, and develop an iOS app to be used by their internal team. Within a few months of project inception, the application was finished and met with enthusiasm from the team at Uber. Although the nature of the software is confidential, it met a high-priority need within the organization and continues to be used by Uber today.
Vault
Vault is a web platform that provides access to the best-in-class experiences in luxury sports, entertainment and culinary around the globe. Vault members are granted exclusive access to major events in sports, entertainment, food and wine, film, music, fashion as well as the ability to design their own events.
Scal.io designed and developed their newest web application, as well as designing the Vault Logo and overall branding.
Fastly
Founded in San Francisco in 2011, Fastly has quickly grown into one of the top CDNs in the world, securing over $129 Million in funding in 5 short years. Fastly is the only content delivery network (CDN) that gives businesses complete control over how they serve content, unprecedented access to real-time performance analytics, and the ability to cache frequently changing content at the edge. They offer a myriad of services and platforms including Web and Mobile Performance Optimization, Cloud security, Media & Streaming, APIs, and much more.
Scal.io was brought in by Fastly to create a Drupal 8 Module for their CDN and fix existing issues in their Drupal 7 Module. The project was completed as expected in early 2016, and is currently in production on Fastly.com.
Digg
Shortly after Digg's infamous redesign debacle, Scal.io was hired to help Digg with product and design direction. We delivered designs for a new mobile app and provided product management for Digg's web platform. Digg was acquired by Betaworks a short time later.
Brit+Co
Brit+Co is an online media and e-commerce platform that provides tools to teach, inspire, and enable creativity among women and girls. Founded in late 2011, Brit+Co has secured $43 million in funding from investors such as Marissa Mayer and Oak Investment Partners. Brit+Co is now a leading destination for the DIY generation, currently reaching over five million creatively-minded people each month. From traditional crafts to high-tech manufacturing, they connect millions of users with makers, designers, chefs, and inventors, together building a community of creativity.
Scal.io designed and developed the most recent version of the Brit+Co iOS application. We've re-architected the app to increase performance (by over 80%), add a new search and profile experience, eliminate webviews (reducing bugs by 98%), and implement latest design trends.
Bri+Co is a top-10 iOS app, currently rated at 4.5/5 stars with over 1600 reviews. Scal.io's latest release was featured in iTunes for the Lifestyle category.

23andMe
A startup founded by Anne Wojcicki, the wife of Google co-founder Sergey Brin, 23andMe has plans to make the human genome searchable.
Scal.io designed and developed the initial version of 23andMe’s iOS app, Android app, and badging API. The apps offer great functionality to both current 23andMe customers and to others who want to learn about what they do.
The initial iOS and Android apps hit top 5 for Reference in both the iTunes and Google Play Stores.
23andMe's API ("The world's first Genome API") lets authorized developers build applications and tools on the human genome. Scal.io's API Demo demonstrates a step by step walk through on how to build your own DNApp with the 23andMe API. The Personal Genome API includes get calls for user data, profile information, and even specific genome locations.
